AFC Sudbury v Newmarket Town
Velocity Cup 1st Round (The Isthmian League Cup)
The Elite Travel Stadium, Brundon Lane, Sudbury CO10 7HN
KO: 19.45

Tuesday night will see Newmarket Town visit the Elite Travel Stadium for the re-arranged Velocity Cup (Isthmian League Cup) first round fixture.

The Jockeys have seen plenty of Cup action recently, defeating Haringey Borough in the 1st Qualifying round of the FA trophy back on 29th August in a penalty shoot-out after a 2-2 draw; falling to defeat in the FA Cup to Canvey Island in a replay. On Saturday they progressed in the FA Trophy after a 5-2 home win over Gorleston and, back on bank holiday Monday they were victorious in the league in a 2-1 victory over Mulbarton Wanderers. Of note to AFC Sudbury fans is the inclusion of Callum Page in those games and on the score-sheet!

The Suds, meanwhile, once again demonstrated on Saturday in that FA Trophy defeat at Ware that, with a few tactical tweaks from manager Phil Weavers at half-time, we can compete with anybody. Of special note from that game in Hertfordshire is the Man of the Match performance from our ‘keeper Finley Iron, who impressed everyone watching with some spectacular saves.

That defeat comes after the impressive away win at Little Oakley the previous Saturday. Our first league points of the season were secured with second-half goals from Reuben Chinnery and Tom Maycock.
