Great Comeback Win

Brantham Athletic hosted AFC Sudbury in what turned out to be an eventful evening in the Thurlow Nunn Youth League.

The home side broke the deadlock on fifteen minutes when a long ball over the top caught out the Sudbury defence and it was scrambled over the goal line. Tennminutes later and Brantham had a two goal lead after a defensive mix up between AFC's centre back and goalkeeper.

However, Sudbury moved the ball around nicely creating some chances but not managing to find a cutting edge. Ten minutes before half time and The hosts had a three goal cushion after their striker was on hand to pick up a loose ball parried by the AFC goalkeeper.

Sudbury came out at the start of the second half pressing high and looking to get back in the game and they got their reward three minutes in when substitute Adam Hanson drew a foul in the penalty area which Isaac Skubich dispatched sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

The visitors gained momentum and just five minutes later grabbed a second, this time Adam Hanson cooly finishing inside the penalty area to make it 3-2. Sudbury continued to dominate with Brantham struggling to get out of their own half.

Ten minutes later and Sudbury were level courtesy of half time substitute Tom Maycock who finished a good move off with a curling effort that caught the goalkeeper off guard. AFC continued to create chances down both flanks and fifteen minutes later Tom Maycock (pictured) drilled in a low effort across goal to give Sudbury the lead.

The visitors then held on for the remainder of the game with Tom Maycock grabbing a hat-trick late on to kill the game off leaving Sudbury to bring home a well deserved three points.
