Brightlingsea Regent v AFC Sudbury

Straight from the off Sudbury dominated possession and instantly adapted better to the tough conditions due to the pitch. It didn’t take long for the yellows to break the deadlock, Dettmar found Fuller and he expertly took on the left back and put a dangerous pull back cross into the box with Beevis arriving just on cue to hammer home into the bottom corner. Sudbury continued to have more possession but Brightlingsea came close a few times with Luca Collins making some smart stops to keep the scoreline in the favour of Sudbury. The scoreline was doubled when Brightlingsea had a corner which was headed away by Watson, Pengelly then held the ball up well and set it to Dettmar who found Fuller and he raced away from the defender and then he struck left footed into the bottom left corner leaving the goalkeeper helpless. This is how it stayed until the break and with Sudbury much the happier.

The second half began just as the first half had with Sudbury having all the ball and this continued throughout the second half with Sudbury creating chances at will. Pengelly, who had a good game, was put through but blazed over and a free kick from Watson hit the post. Dettmar also struck from 25 yards out rattling the bar with it bouncing on the line and out with a big let off for Regent. Sudbury then made is 3-0 when substitute Gammon hit a lofted shot with the goalkeeper managing to get a hand to it but couldn’t quite keep it out. This is how the game stayed with Sudbury coming away with a terrific 3-0 result away from home.
