Late Winner

AFC Sudbury looking to retain the County Cup for a third year in a row started off slowly away at Whitton United.

The slow start ended up costing AFC as sloppy defensive play down the left hand side of the pitch resulted in Whitton taking a deserved 1-0 lead. The home side defending with a high line were looking to stop AFC from creating any good goal scoring chances. However, AFC started to gradually play some good football and managed to grab a goal back just before half time which was scored by Callum Vincent.

An entertaining second half began again with AFC starting slowly and they conceded a second from a wide free kick which put Whitton 2-1 up.
AFC got themselves up the pitch to win a corner, that was put in by Kane Munday and cleared to the edge of the box, there Ben Hunter (pictured) was on hand to smash the ball home to level 2-2.

The hosts scored their third goal from another wide free kick that was flicked over the head of Sudbury goalkeeper Luca Collins. AFC 3-2 down with twenty minutes to go didn't give up though and continued to make chances which led to Oliver Gravett receiving the ball with his back to goal turning and smashing the ball home from outside the penalty box to level the scores.

With only five minutes plus stoppage left of the game, AFC managed to score a late winner. Kane Munday delivered and Callum Fuller scored the winning goal at the back post.

A difficult cup tie resulting in AFC Sudbury going through to the next round of the county cup.
