AFC Sudbury academy travelled on Friday night down to Swindon for an overnight stay, they checked in to the hotel before heading out for a meal together in Swindon Town.

The hosts had the first chance after two minutes of play when Jordan Young put his chip wide of the post. AFC seemed to bounce back with some good spells of play and on six minutes good attacking play from AFC lead to a shot just over the bar. AFC continued with their attacking play and on eight minutes Callum Watson picked up a loose ball from the Swindon defence and slotted the ball home.

After the goal the game seemed to of settled down with both sides having good spells. On 19 minutes Swindon had their first corner of the match and with a scrap and bodies flying everywhere in the box Christian Frimpong of Swindon Town found the back of the net:1-1.

The goal lead to Swindon having ten minutes of good play with AFC being limited to play. On 32 minutes AFC had a deflected shot superbly saved by the Swindon Town goalkeeper.

Half time 1-1

AFC kicked off to get us underway in the second half. AFC seemed to start the brightest having two or three half chances which could of lead to goals. The first real chance of the second half came on 56 minutes when some good play from the Swindon attackers forced AFC goal keeper Curtis Child into making a fine save. On 59 minutes AFC saw Sam Mills header cleared off the line and almost minutes later a shot put just wide of the post. On 61 minutes Some good play in the middle of the park lead to a fine strike from Callum Watson which looped over the Swindon keepers head. Watson with his second AFC 2-1 up.

Moments later Curtis Child was pulled in to action when he made a fantastic double save. Corner to Swindon, the ball was fired in and Swindon saw a Tommy Ouldridge header cleared off the line. The next chance didn't come until 83 minutes when Swindon Town equalised again this time with a strike from Scott Twine from outside the box: 2-2.

Swindon had another chance on 85 minutes which was wide of the mark. Full time 2-2.

Extra time: On 92 minutes AFC's Ollie Dunlop had a free kick which forced the Swindon goal keeper in to making a good save. On 100 minutes Swindon had an attack which lead to them taking the lead with another Scott Twine goal: 3-2 Swindon.

After the goal AFC had a number of chances which didn't lead to anything and the clock ticked down. With a fantastic run in The FA youth cup and a great effort from AFC Sudbury academy Swindon came out 3-2 winners.

The AFC Sudbury Academy players and staff should be proud of what they have achieved. This is not the end, but the beginning of a journey.
