Morton Hall 1 AFC 4
AFC came into this game looking to make it back to back wins for the first time. The game started very even and Morton Hall forced a succession of corners which the AFC defense did well to deal with. Morton Hall then crafted the first clear chance on goal but the striker placed his shot wide of the post. Keeper Leon Greenley Winterflood then made an excellent double save to deny the striker again.
AFC started to take control halfway through the first half with Charlie Brooks playing some lovely through balls to the ever willing runners in Henry and Oliver Richold on either wing. The Morton Hall goal lived a charmed life with some good last ditch tackling denying AFC,so front line.
The deadlock was finally broken when Brooks turned his man and was fouled by the defender. The free kick was a long way out but Finlay Kent stepped up to rifle a shot into the top corner.
Morton Hall levelled in controversial circumstances when Kent cut out a cross and the AFC Keeper picked the ball up. The referee harshly adjudged it a back pass and the home team equalised from the free kick. Half time 1-1.
AFC took total control in the second half with midfield being dominated by a combination of Oliver Stalker, Brodie Henderson and Kuba Slowinski. The tough tackling of Spencer Turner and the pace of George Basham stopped any attempt by Morton Hall to get forward.
AFC forced a corner and a lovely delivery to the near post by Henry Richold was headed home by Kent for his and AFC,s second goal.
Kent went close again when he hit the bar with another free kick before AFC scored a brilliant team goal. Great defending in his own box saw George Basham turn and find Stalker who played in Oliver Richold on the right wing. His perfect through ball put Brooks in to round the keeper and slot home cooly for 3-1.
Another free kick gave Kent the chance to have another shot and he duly obliged by curling his effort into the far corner for his hat trick.
A great team display ended in a 4-1 win for AFC.
Man of the match Finlay Kent, hat-rick going forward but solid at the back.
