AFC U12 Blues 4 Melford U12 2

Both teams were looking for a win after heavy defeats in both of their opening games.
The game started fairly even but AFC slowly got on top and opened the scoring when good work by the front three of Henry Richold, Charlie Brooks and Oliver Richold, resulted in the latter finding the bottom corner.
AFC continued to make chances and just as it seemed they were going in at halftime without a second, Charlie Brooks popped up to score. 2 nil at halftime and AFC looked comfortable.
Right from the start of the second half, Melford started to put pressure on AFC,so back three of Oliver Jeffrey, George Basham and Finlay Kent. They got back into the game with a shot that arced over goalkeeper Rowan Howlett into the far corner.
Melford now had the bit between their teeth and pushed for an equaliser. But just as it seemed they would get level, AFC broke away with a strong run down the right by Oliver Jeffrey. He linked well with Brodie Henderson and Jeffrey's wicked cross was turned into his own net by a Melford defender.
Melford still pushed and AFC exploited the gaps at the back as Henderson hit a shot over the bar and Kent saw his drive go just wide of the post. Harry Byford almost created another chance before AFC made changes to bring on fresh legs.
Oliver Stalker made some lovely passes through midfield and had a hand in AFCs fourth goal. He sent O.Richold away down the right and his cross was turned in by brother H.Richold at the far post.
Spencer Turner had also come on and his tigerish tackling helped keep Melford out until the final minutes as they scored a well made goal to make it 4-2.
