AFC started strongly straight from the kick off and put pressure on the Halstead defence with some strong runs from F Kent in midfield and a front three of O. Richold, C Brooks, and H Richold looking lively.
However the break through came against the run of play when the AFC defence missed a clearance and then keeper L. Winterflood also missing his clearance to allow the Halstead striker to tap home.
AFC were level almost straight away with the best move of the game.
With Halstead pressing for a second goal, a strong block on the edge of the AFC box by Kent fell to O. Richold who carried the ball forward and found C. Brook who moved the ball onto H. Richold. His cross was smashed home by O. Richold to finish a lightning fast break.
Both teams missed chances with G. Basham, K. Slowinski, B. Henderson and O. Jeffrey cutting out most of Halsteads attacks at the back for AFC. Halstead struck again when the AFC defence stopped thinking the ball had gone out of play, but with no flag Halstead kept it alive to score.
Just before half time C. Brooks equilized with a lovely flick at the near post from a corner for 2-2 at the break.
The second half started with end to end football. Halstead once again went ahead after keeper Winterflood was quickly off his line to clear but was harshly judged to have fouled the striker. A fine strike from the Halstead player found the bottom corner from the free kick.
Winterflood then made two excellent saves to keep the scores close and then C. Brook found space in the box to level the scores once again.
Late chances for F. Kent who hit a ferocious drive inches over and O. Richold who pulled his shot wide of the post almost won it for AFC, but a draw was a fair result. 3-3.
