Probably the least said about this game the better. Cambridge were good actually so fair play to them. They had one big threat that we were well aware of.. we didn't deal with that threat. Derek Ubah, a giant of a defender, a Paul Pogba lookalike did for us. Cambridge defended well, they had a solid shape at the back, but we were flat.
Maybe it could have been very different. We were awarded a penalty on 13 mnutes with the game scoreless but the usually reliable Tom Maycock saw his spot kick saved. 8 minutes later Cambridge took the lead when the powerful centre back Ubah headed home past Walker.
On 35 minutes Sean Marks glancing header cannoned back off the post following a Harrison corner.
We had a fair amount of the ball and found ourselves in decent positions at times but our final ball was poor. Marks takes up good positions but he still needs to be found.. time and again that didn't happen.
In the 2nd half surely we would re-find our recent spark... errr no we didn't.
3 minutes into the 2nd half Ubah headed home again. Lightning striking twice, the same goalscorer, the same goal. Learn we did not, deal with it we did not.
After that we huffed and puffed, got the ball in around the Cambridge box quite frequently but did we work their keeper.. no we did not.
There's 10 days until we play again.. after today i don't mind that gap. The attendance was almost as disappointing as the performance, 224 hardy souls who will find little to remember this game for.
