It started well, but ended as have so many games against teams near to the bottom of the table, in another disappointing defeat.
AFC Manager Mark Morsley gave another bright AFC Academy player a first team debut as sixteen year old Joe Grimwood (pictured) started in central defence after some good performances for the reserves. Tyler French missed out through an injury he picked up at Bury on Thursday.
On a dry bumpy pitch Sudbury went in front after twenty minutes when, last weeks goalkeeper Milo Grimes, followed up a shot and fired home from ten yards. AFC held onto the lead at half time.
Seven minutes into the second period and the home side leveled with a header from Shaun Wones that gave Luca Collins in the AFC goal no chance.
It became 2-1 five minutes later when Adam Hipperson scrambled the ball home.
Ryan Horne and Callum Harrison were replaced by Mekhi McKenzie and Ollie Gravett on sixty-six minutes in an effort to shake things up. Norwich however were awarded a penalty five later that Hipperson converted.
Max Booth came on for Phil Kelly with seventeen minutes left but it made no difference as AFC slipped to defeat and down to twelth in the Bostik North table.
That leaves just Grays Athletic at home next Saturday to complete AFC’s season.
