It was a nightmare journey for AFC as they attempted to get to Ship Lane Thurrock to take on Romford, and when they did get the game on they came away with a point in a 1-1 draw.
Leaving Sudbury at 12.00 noon and then at the junction of the A12 and M25 a hour later it then took nearly another three hours to reach the ground, this part of the journey should take only around twelve minutes.
It of course meant a very delayed kick off around the 4.20pm mark.
Manager Mark Morsley recalled Sam Mills to the starting line up, and continued with young Ollie Gravett. Will Crisell started but lated only twenty three minutes before an injury force him off with Milo Grimes taking over.
It was goalless first half with AFC having much the better of proceeding, however the deadlock was broken on fifty-three minutes when Phil Kelly (pictured) scored AFC's first goal in four games. From then on Romford stepped up a gear and they forced Paul Walker to pull off some excellent saves to deny them.
Gravett went off with around twenty minutes left and Mekhi McKenzie was his replacement.
The home side equalised with eleven minutes left, and try as they might the game finished all square to leave AFC down a place in the Ryman North table, thirteenth spot.
