After what has been a rather turbulent year for AFC they play the last game of 2017 away at Parkside the home of Aveley FC.
After relegation at the end of the 2016/17 season AFC went into this one looking to bounce back. The start of 2017/18 wasn’t great and that led to a change of management in October and the club now find themselves in fifteenth place in Bostik North as they seek the way onwards and upwards in 2018.
The trip to Aveley will be the first time that AFC have visited the new ground at Parkside that has the same Velocity 3G surface as that at King’s Marsh and also by all accounts some excellent facilities.
They have some AFC connections with central defender Julian Smith, midfielder George Doyle and forward Russell Malton having all played for us. Under fairly new management
they are in twentieth place in the table with twenty-two points from twenty-three games played.
AFC go into the game having won away at Mildenhall Town on Boxing Day and in good spirits. Manager Mark Morsley having recovered from the illness that kept him away from the last game will be back in the dugout. There maybe a slight tinkering with the side but Jake Jessup will continue his loan spell and be in goal for his second game for the club.
