The Suds travelled to Lowestoft on the back of a five game unbeaten run in the league and fresh from a 1-1 draw away at Brightlingsea Regent on the previous Tuesday.
With George Keys and Alex Kerr both unavailable, Jacob Goredema made a second appearance of the season on loan from Braintree Town and Ollie Reynolds returned to the starting line-up as part of a back three with skipper Kyran Clements and George Chenery.
With Goredema and Kaidon Tower-King – also making a return to the starting XI – as wing backs the Yellows started on the front foot and within the first minute Reuben Chinnery scored his 10th for the club – equalling the tally of last years top scorer, Marcel Lewis.
Kaidon Tower-King was back to his best and looking dangerous on the right wing and on 42 minutes, went on one those signature runs towards the bye-line, cutting back to the edge of the box and shooting past the ’keeper. 2-0 to The Suds at the break.
The home-side picked-up the pace in the second half and looked more threatening and on 46 minutes pulled one back. Phil Weavers rang the changes with Oxborrow, Sloots and Gomes replacing Goredema (injury), Maycock and Barnett. Sloots immediately became a nuisance for the Trawler Boys and the visitors started to dominate play. Jolland replaced Barker on 72 minutes to add fresh legs in midfield, the Suds maintained pressure and from one our corners, Kyran Clements put the ball into the net to restore the 2 goal cushion.
A late penalty, dispatched cooly by Reuben Chinnery, put the result beyond doubt and took The Suds to 9th in the league. A great performance that was appreciated by the travelling yellow army.
Onto Wroxham at home!
