Our second league game and first way fixture of the season takes us all the way down to Canvey Island and a match against Concord Rangers.

Last weekend The Beach Boys defeated Bedfont Sports in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round 1-0, so this will be their first league game of the new season. Last season Concord Rangers finished 13th in The Isthmian League North Division, which was their second back at Step 3 having competed in the Isthmian Premier in Season 2023/24. The season before that, 2022/23, was their last of eight at Step 2 in the National League South.

AFC Sudbury have played Concord Rangers once before, on Saturday 7th August 2004 in the Eastern Floodlight League Semi-Final, losing 4-0 at Thames Road with a depleted side, as our First XI were playing Dublin City in Dublin where they drew 1-1.

So, this will be a first league encounter between the teams and a chance for us to get down to winning ways and get some points on the board. In our first game last weekend the boys more than held their own in the first half against a strong Hashtag United – Reuben Chinnery going close with several near-misses during the game – but some clinical finishing from the visitors consigned us to an opening day defeat.
