AFC Sudbury v Alvechurch
Southern League Premier Central Division
The Elite Travel Stadium, Brundon Lane, Sudbury CO10 7HN
KO: 15.00
Alvechurch make the long trip from Worcestershire this weekend to visit the Elite Travel Stadium. Their recent form has been patchy; their seven games so-far in March providing two wins, one draw and four defeats. Those wins came at Kettering Town and at home against Stamford. They now sit 6 points away from the relegation zone in 15th place.
As for The Suds, last weekend saw a dramatic turn of events at fellow strugglers Barwell. It was the first game in-charge for interim boss Dave Hennessey and, hot on the heels of that 6-0 drubbing at Kettering Town, not many expected us to come home with all three points! Jack Stone proved to be a total menace to the Barwell defence winning, then converting, two penalties. Jake Turner gave us one of his specials; an expertly taken free-kick from a few yards outside the 18 yard box (oh, how we have missed those this season!). A fine team performance was capped off with a delicious goal scored by Jenson Mulqueen, latching onto a beautiful Rocco Leeks pass.
We did lose goalkeeper Jack Munson in the second half with what looked to be a very serious injury. Thankfully, Jack is already back and was between the posts midweek for the Academy.
Can the Yellows carry the momentum into this weekends clash? As its Non-League day there will be some extra attractions on offer at the stadium, so its a perfect opportunity to cheer the boys onto another three points.
Come on you Yellows!
