AFC Sudbury v Leiston
Southern League Premier Central
The Elite Travel Stadium, Brundon Lane, Sudbury CO10 7HN
KO: 3pm.
It’s another Suffolk derby at the Elite Travel Stadium on Saturday as we entertain Leiston in the Southern League Premier Central.
Leiston will be licking their wounds following defeat at the hands of Needham Market on Tuesday in the Quarter-Finals of the Suffolk Premier Cup. In their last three league games they have been undefeated though, with two draws and one win. Last weekend they drew at home with Bromsgrove Sporting, who now find themselves heading towards us and the relegation zone. Leiston currently sit in eighth spot, four points off the play-offs.
Our chances of Step 3 survival took a turn for the better with that fantastic 0-0 draw at Worcester City last weekend, putting points on the board for the first time this year. Our boys gave another determined performance; solid in defence and threatening in attack. The first half saw us awarded a penalty and have a goal dis-allowed for offside. Towards the end of the game, we again created chances – forcing their 'keeper to make a great save from a superb Jack Stone effort – and we could have returned home with all three points.
More of the same this weekend – along with a repeat of our FA Trophy victory against them back in October – and we stand a good chance of getting that all important league win.
Come on you Yellows!
