It was a disappointing afternoon for the Suds as, despite a strong performance, being down a man for 55 minutes, The Yellows came away with no points.
The Sudbury lineup was Bradbrook, Miles, C. Lewis, Dickens, Cowling, Turner, Peters, M. Lewis, Neal, Page, Termniello. On the bench, Arnold, Pearce, Isaacson, Bradley, Goredema
Sudbury started the better of the two teams, Joe Neal latched on to a poor backpass by Ellis Bates, went around Jameson Horlick but Carl Mensah managed to catch Joe and clear for a corner. With 35 minutes played, chaos ensued in the penalty area when Charlie Lewis was judged to have handled the ball on the line, receiving a straight red card, and a penalty was awarded to the visitors. Captain Ryan Blake took the penalty... and it was SAVED by Bradders - who managed to dive the right way and stop the ball, which wasn't struck with much power, but you can't take anything away from the save!
In the second half, Bedford began to use their extra man well and on the hour mark Blake made up for his penalty miss, by tapping into the back of the net after great work from Bruno Andrade. Andrade nearly turned scorer five minutes later, but from six yards out headed over the bar. In the 68th minute, there was an exchange of debutants as Marcel Lewis' impressive debut came to an end; he definitely showed a sign of what is to come from him in a Sudbury shirt. Coming onto the pitch was 2nd Year Academy Student Jacob Goredema, who after being in the squad against Lowestoft came on for his debut, where he would go on to make quite an impact on the Sudbury fans who were all very excited about his performance at full time- despite the defeat. With less than 10 minutes to go, Bedford doubled their lead as Lewis Green saw his near post shot beat Bradders. The Yellows had a glimmer of hope when Joe won the ball inside the eighteen yard box before laying it off to Myles Cowling, he found Ollie Peters who fired into the top corner, but it was ultimately too little too late.
We now move on to Biggleswade on Tuesday night, if you can make it, see you there, Yellows.
