It was a last gasp goal from Kettering Town's Terrell Pennant that dashed Sudbury's hopes of earning an unlikely point against the once runaway league leaders.
The Suds made a couple of changes as Luca Terminiello earned his first league start, and Ben Bradley also came back into the starting 11 after his Birthday on Friday. They came in to replace Jake Turner and Callum Page.
LINEUP: Bradbrook, Lewis, Isaacson, Dickens, Miles, Bradley, Cowling, Peters, Neal, Pearce, Terminiello.
SUBS: Turner, Page, Arnold, Okeh
The game started slowly with Kettering's best chance falling to Luca Miller who looped his shot over the bar. Apart from that, Sudbury completely dominated the first half. Looking electric on the counter Sudbury maintained pressure high up with pitch with a constant string of corners, the closest any of the routines came to a goal was after Myles Cowling's shot bounced into the path of Liam Pearce who got a touch on the ball but Dan Jezepeh made a fantastic save with quick reflexes.
In the second half the home side continued to be dominant as Luca Terminiello played a low pass across goal but Pearce wasn't able to make contact with the ball. Pearcey was in the thick of the action again as he had the ball on the right hand side of the penalty area, but he couldn't quite guide his curling effort on target. With two minutes to play, Kettering began to have the ball in the final third of Sudbury, fine as Nile Ranger dispossessed Tom Dickens, but Dickens recovered quickly to keep the ball out. In the 93rd minute Sudbury had huge appeals for a penalty waved away after Dickens was seemingly kicked in the penalty box. With thirty second of the six added on minutes left Terrell Pennent charged through on goal and when one on one with James Bradbrook he calmly slotted into the back of the net with Kettering's first shot on target of the match, prompting a select few to start pitch invading.
A fantastic performance where once again it came down to taking our chances, Kettering had one shot on target and scored it. However, if we saw more performances like those we'll be fine. Now we look forward to Lowestoft on Tuesday and we look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible, Yellows.
