AFC Sudbury earned a very important three points against ten man Alvechurch who, coming into the match, were level on points with us.
The Suds made a few changes, Charlie Lewis came in for Matty Miles, and Ben Isaacson regained his place in the 11 instead of Callum Page. The changes meant it was Bradbrook, Lewis, Henshaw, Dickens, Peters, Bradley, Cowling, Neal, Pearce, Allen, Isaacson. On the bench Turner, Munson, Jackson, Terminiello, and Goode.
Alvechurch went close to scoring an early opener, Omari Sterling-James aimed his curling shot into the top corner, but it landed on the roof of the net. Sudbury then began to take control, Ryan Henshaw saw his shot well saved by goalkeeper Ronnie Hollingshead. Not long after Hollingshead was in and about a big moment in the game, this time for the wrong reason. Hollingshead was dispossessed by Joe Neal, who took the ball from him about 30 yards out, passed it to Josh Allen, and after a few more passes, Joe Neal calmly slotted past the goalie.
Half-time: AFC Sudbury 1-0 Alvechurch FC
In the second half, James Bradbrook sprang into life, playing a 'sweeper keeper' brilliantly. Alvechurch began to dominate the second half, substitute Tyrone Barnett mistimed his shot, hitting it with his knee and it went over the bar from six yards. Bradbrook then made a save that will be a contender for save of the season, as Barnett tried to find an equaliser. With five minutes to go, Luca Terminiello, who had come on as a substitute, took control of the ball and was wiped out by David Solademi who received a straight red card.
Full-Time: AFC Sudbury 1-0 Alvechurch FC
Another brilliant team performance and we now look ahead to the Suffolk Premier Cup game against Hadleigh on Tuesday and the away visit to Halesowen on Saturday 9th November.
