It was a disappointing day out for the Suds, as we lost out to Bedford Town who jumped up to second place.
The Suds lineup was Bradbrook, Lewis, Turner, Henshaw, Dickens, Isaacson, Bradley, Peters, Page, Neal, Allen. Subs: Pearce, Philp, Miles, Terminiello, Yule.
The Suds started well, Josh Allen saw his shot blocked inside the opening 60 seconds, after a quick turnover in possession. Five minutes in though, the home side took the lead, as a direct free kick was whipped in and Ekow Coker headed into the top corner. The home side continued to dominate in a quiet opening 45 minutes, the closest the Suds went was JT's audacious shot from long range that went way over the bar.
Half-Time: Bedford Town 1-0 AFC Sudbury
In the second half, Sudbury came out a lot stronger, and began to bombard the goal with shots. Josh Allen was slipped through one on one, but his shot was well saved, not long after he had another opportunity but his shot was deflected across the face of goal. With 20 minutes to go, the home side doubled their lead. Edwards Gyamfi, who was sent off on Tuesday Night, picked up the ball just outside the penalty area, and unleashed a brilliant strike that arrowed into the top corner. The Suds fired back quickly, as substitute Matty Miles was pushed to the ground in the penalty box. Joe Neal stood up to take, and scored it for the third match running! As we continued to look for a late equaliser, we had a free kick, which was headed away, and as we were exposed at the back, Ryan Blake went and scored a fantastic goal to seal the three points for the home side.
Full-Time: Bedford Town 3-1 AFC Sudbury
Well, not the performance we were looking for, and we will aim to bounce back next week against Cambridge City in the FA Trophy
