It was an afternoon to remember for AFC Sudbury, as we earned our third win in four games, bouncing back after Tuesday’s defeat.
There was a new face in the lineup, as Ben Isaacson made his first start and first appearance for the Yellows, as we lined up Bradbrook, Lewis, Turner, Isaacson, Dickens, Miles, Peters, Neal, Cowling, Page, Allen. On the bench, Pearce, Philp, Bradley, Terminiello, Cox.
The Suds started fast, Joe Neal was slipped through but when one-on-one with the goalie he was denied. Five minutes later though, Joe Neal got the ball on the right hand side and whipped in a fantastic cross, which was met by Callum Page who acrobatically hit his shot into the ground and it bounced off the ground and over the goalkeeper. Less than a minute later, we were awarded a penalty, as Joe Neal was taken down by the goalie. He took it, but it was well saved by Jackson in goal for the visitors. We did double our lead eventually, as Myles Cowling played an excellent ball over the top to Josh Allen, who calmly slotted past the goalie.
Half-Time: AFC Sudbury 2-0 Stamford AFC
In the second half, Josh Allen had a chance to get his second, but his effort was very well saved by the ‘keeper. The game began to simmer, with the Suds looking to see out the three points, and Josh Allen, who kept trying for his second of the game, saw his effort hit the inside of the post and somehow bounce away from goal. In the second minute of five added on, Joe Neal drove forward, and played a simple pass to his neighbour Myles Cowling who took a touch, before firing into the bottom corner for his first Sudbury goal! Sparking huge celebrations from his teammates!
