It was an away day to remember for AFC Sudbury fans, along with some of the Leamington Faithful mixed in.
The Suds lineup was Bradbrook, Lewis, Dickens, Henshaw, Miles, Isaacson, Turner, Page, Allen, Neal, Peters. Subs: Pearce, Bradley, Munson, Terminiello, Goode.
The game started awfully for the Yellows. Following a free kick Bradders looked like he was fouled, but the ref played on, and despite JT's best effort, the ball went over the line for Redditch. Six minutes later we were level. Joe Neal latched on to a long ball, from Ryan Henshaw. Neal drove at goal, before squaring it to Josh Allen - who wasn't going to miss from inside the 18-yard box. Then, five minutes before half-time, the Suds took the lead! Pagey swung in a cross that bounced around the box, before Charlie Lewis, of all people, with an overhead kick, fired into the back of the net, to score his first Sudbury goal - and on his birthday.
Half-time: Redditch United 1-2 AFC Sudbury
In the second half, Redditch upped up the pressure on goal and kept trying to find the opening in the water tight Sudbury defence, with some desperate efforts trickling into the hands of Bradders. The best chance Sudbury had was a quick counter attack where Ben Isaacson drove forward, but his attempt to shoot was blocked and put out for a corner. As the match progressed frustration grew throughout The Valley, as Sudbury continued to deny the hosts. Eventually the ref finally blew the whistle and the Suds earned a famous three points on the road, as Sudbury and Leamington fans let out a huge cheer, after Leamington fans had made the drive up to come and support us
Full-Time: Redditch United 1-2 AFC Sudbury
On the coach journey home, the players certainly enjoyed themselves after a fantastic gesture from Leamington, who bought three crates of "refreshments" and got them delivered for the players! What. A. Club.
