AFC Sudbury and St Ives Town played out a goalless draw, as the Pitching In Southern League Premier Central league table stayed tight.
We made two changes, as Callum Page and Ben Bradley came into the 11 in place of Ben Isaacson, and Jake turner. So it was Bradbrook, Henshaw, Dickens, Miles, Peters, Neal, Cowling, Page, Pearce, Bradley, Allen. On the bench, Lewis, Isaacson, Jackson, Terminiello, and Goode.
The visiting side, St Ives, had the best chance of the opening portion of the match, Amarillo Kaunda looked to be about to tap into an empty net, but Matty Miles for Sudbury came to the rescue, clearing the ball off the line. Sudbury's most dangerous opportunity came through Josh Allen, who was twisting and turning in the penalty area, before his shot was deflected behind.
In the second half, 'The Suds' were making home advantage count, dominating possession, and had a great chance to take the lead through substitute Simeon Jackson, who returned to the squad after two months out, to replace the injured Callum Page. He tried curling his shot into the top corner but Wilks saved in goal for St Ives. Josh Allen continued to look dangerous and once again drove at goal, before a last ditch tackle was made, blocking his shot, and keeping the scores level. With seven minutes to play, James Bradbrook made a stunning save, his first one of the half to deny Kaunda whose shot was going into the top corner.
Another good point for the Suds, as this league stays incredibly compact with only seven points separating fifth and nineteenth. Next up it's Alvechurch, and we need to get behind the lads even more, for what will be another tough game.
