It was a disappointing afternoon for the Yellow’s, as we failed to get going at the War Memorial Athletic Ground.
The Suds made two changes, Jake Turner, and Charlie Lewis came in for Ben Bradley and Callum Page, so the lineup was Bradbrook, Lewis, Turner, Henshaw, Dickens, Miles, Peters, Neal, cowling, Allen, Jackson. On the bench we had Brownsdon, Page, Pearce, Munson, Bradley.
It was a scrappy start to the match, and the Suds had the best chance of the opening 20 minutes or so, as Josh Allen went round the goalie after a long ball, but his shot was cleared off the line. In the 35th minute the home side were awarded a penalty, after a miscommunication between Charlie Lewis and Bradders, Charlie cleared for a throw, which was headed out but Josh Allen failed to clear, and when he tried to win the ball back the ref pointed straight to the spot. After some mind games, with it looking like Elliot Durrell was going to take the penalty, Alex Bradley stepped up, and scored a super penalty, giving Bradders, who dived the right way, no chance.
Half-Time: Stourbridge 1-0 AFC Sudbury
In the second half, with 25 minutes remaining, Stourbridge made it two. Miro Pais, took both JT and Matty out of the game with a super turn, before his low driven cross was flicked in by Toumani Sidibe, at first the ref didn’t give the goal with it appearing that Ryan Henshaw had cleared off the line, but the linesman said that it was over the line, and the home side doubled their lead. We nearly got one back with about 10 minutes to go, as Joe Neal’s free kick was met by Ryan Henshaw’s head, but the goalie produced a magnificent save to keep the home side's two goal advantage.
Full-Time: Stourbridge 2-0 AFC Sudbury
