It was another day to forget for the Yellows, as for the second time over the Easter weekend we are defeated. We had a pretty similar lineup from the one on Saturday. Bradbrook was in goal. Oluwatimilehin came back into the starting lineup and was partnered with Cawley, and Dickens. In midfield we had Pinnington, Turner, Hunter, and Page. In attack, Joe Neal returned to the first 11 after injury and he was alongside Jackson and Allen. On the bench we had Tarpey, Oteng, Lewis, Bradley, and Ololade.
It had been a start where the Yellows had been under the cosh quite a bit, and on the quarter of an hour mark, the table toppers took the lead. I think we all knew who it was going to be. Adam Mills flicked in after a great cross, cueing a big celebration from the former Yellow. After the goal, we began to look better, Joe Neal was denied by a very good save by Garnham, and so was Pagey. However, right on the stroke of half time, Needham latched onto a loose pass into the midfield, and Ingram drove through the middle, with defenders backing off before hitting a shot which was well saved by Bradders, but then tapped in by Chambers.
Half-Time: Needham Market 2-0 AFC Sudbury
In the second half, the Sud started well, Ben Hunter saw his low shot saved. Callum Page, who was full of life throughout the match whilst plying his former club, was denied by a fantastic save. With twenty minutes to go, the home side wrapped up the three points with their third goal. Williams found the ball on the edge of the box and on the half-volley hit a spectacular effort into the bottom corner. Joe nearly got one back, but Garnham once again denied him.
Full-time: Needham Market 3-0 AFC Sudbury
Well, it’s going to be tough to stay up now. However, stranger things have happened than earning 7 points more than a team in four games. I say it every week, but now more than ever, cheer that bit louder, home or away. For these final four games, make it that the opposition can’t concentrate, give these lads something back, for what they have given us this season.
