Yet another away fixture saw us travel to Hitchin Town for the second time this season but once again we would end up defeated.
We were beaten 3-0 in the F.A Cup at our high flying hosts last month but this time it was a closer affair.
Adam Mills started his first game for us in this his second spell at the club, playing wide left with Malachi Napa out wide right and Jake Turner returned to the starting line up with the captains arm band too.
Hitchin are a decent side, let's make no bones about it and although we had a decent spell early on where we pinned the hosts in their own end for a spell but after that it was the James Bradbrook show with the Yellows keeper making some great stops to keep us level. The longer the half went on the harder it was for us to get out of our own half.
Just when it looked like we were going to go in at the break all square, the officials somehow found an extra 2 minutes of added time beyond the 1 minute given and when your luck is not in that kind of thing can go against you and of course it did when we conceded yet another penalty, our 8th conceded so far this season and it was soft, very very soft. The hidden sniper that took him out has yet to be found, as it didn't look like the shoulder to shoulder challenge with the diminutive Joe Tarpey was enough to cause any discomfort.
A goal down at the break, we've been there before.
We played better second half, but it took a while to come. unfortunately by then we were 2 down after a Lewis pass was intercepted and with the centreback out of position we were pulled apart before a fine finish from the edge of the box doubled the hosts advantage.
Changes were made, Romario and Cousens replacing Tarpey and Turns. Chances began to arrive bit by bit, a great run and blocked shot from Neal, Napa with an effort just wide and then Millsey received the ball through the middle, galloped into the box where he was felled between two Hitchin defenders. Joe Neal dispatched the penalty and his 8th goal of a productive season.
Unfortunately we failed to really gather a head of steam to get the equaliser and time ran out.
It was good to see the Yellows fans out in better numbers than of late and thanks to each and every one of you who made the journey out.
It will come Yellows and with a run of home games coming up, your support will help to gather points.
Keep the faith.. come on you Yellows. See you at home to Bromsgrove on Saturday
