Well Then...
How haven’t we got something out of that match?
AFC Sudbury went toe to toe with third place Stamford, as the lads put in a phenomenal performance, but don’t get a well-deserved point.
We were straight into the action inside two minutes, Bradders having to make a super save to deny an early goal for the visitors. Despite being lower in the table than our opposition, we grew into the game and started to dominate possession, and half an hour into the game we were rewarded... Romario Dunne, currently captaining whilst JT is out, collected the ball and drove his shot into the ‘keeper’s bottom left corner! However, two minutes later, Stamford equalised. We lost the ball in a dangerous area and couldn’t get it clear, it bounced to Tendai Chitiza who finished into the bottom corner.
In the second half, it was the Stamford keeper’s turn to make a great save inside two minutes of the half... Romario, who had his best game in a yellow shirt since returning, hit a fierce effort but Duggan got his fingertips to it. 10 minutes into the half, somehow, we went behind. Tendai Chitiza finishing off a quick counterattack. The hero of Tuesday night, Reuben Swann, entered the fray straight after the goal, and it didn’t take long for him to be involved in some smart play. Ollie Brown made a clever run and Reuben found him with a pinpoint pass, but the defender just did enough to put Ollie off his shot. Stamford thought they had a third and so did Chitiza but it was ruled offside, after they made another quick counter. With five minutes to go, a glorious opportunity fell to Reuben, but he hit his shot just inches wide.
I’m not quite sure how we didn’t get something out of that game. We are just not having that luck currently. If you were at the game, you know this is just the beginning of something special, now we must sing and chant them home, and if behind the goal, ‘suck’ the ball into the back of the net
