The road to Wembley begins at Cambridge City on Saturday for The Suds!

This will be AFC Sudbury’s first competitive visit to their new FWD-IP Community Stadium in Sawston and our first against City in the FA Cup. Our past record against them is P9, W3, D1, L5. This includes pre-season friendlies – the last of which The Suds triumphed 7-1 in 2022 – league games and FA Trophy matches in which our record is W1 (1-0 away in November 2006) and L1 (at home in October 2024).

Last weekend The Lilywhites suffered a home defeat against Canvey Island in what was their first league game of the season having defeated Lowestoft Town a fortnight ago in the FA Cup to set up the clash with us on Saturday.

There will probably be one or two familiar faces in the Cambridge City line-up; our former promotion winning skipper Reece Harris and last season's vice-captain Charlie Lewis are both in their 2026/27 squad.

For our part, we are still looking for a competitive win to get our season underway. Last weekend we nearly managed to claw our way back from 3-0 to earn a point against Concord Rangers, then on Tuesday we suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to newly promoted Mulbarton Wanderers.
