It was a story of goals for the Yellows, as we scored five in the Emirates FA Cup.
It was the perfect start for the Yellows, inside five minutes, 17-year-old Reuben Swann went on a mazy run past one defender, then two, then three, finding himself just inside the penalty area before shooting across the ‘keeper... GOALLLLLLLLLLLLL! The ball nestled into the bottom corner, and it was a truly magnificent goal. Micheal very nearly got his first for the club, dancing round the defence before his shot hit the side netting, everyone behind the goal thought it was in.
Unfortunatley, a couple of minutes before the half hour mark, two players collided, one for each side, each player having to be replaced, for us it was Reuben Swann. Jamie Bennett replaced our goal scorer. Mildenhall put up a lot of resistance in the first half, creating plenty of chances but Bradbrook making fine saves, and being a super sweeper ‘keeper kept a clean sheet, even if it meant some heart in mouth moments.
In the second half, it was raining goals. With 25 minutes remaining, Joe Neal was given the ball on the halfway line, and he drove through the middle of the two centre-backs before finishing beautifully past the goalie. His third goal in three games, his fourth of the season. 10 minutes later, the substitute, Jamie Bennett gained the ball on the edge of the box, shouts of “SHOOOOT” and he curled one beautifully into the top corner, a stunning goal. On the 89th minute, Kaya slipped through Ben Hunter who absolutely pelted the ball into the bottom corner from a tight angle. A goal made in the Academy! Deeper into stoppage time, the ball fell to Olu on the edge of the box, and he placed, with power, a perfect effort into the bottom corner. His first goal for the club!
A Five-star performance for the Yellows, five different goal scorers and three being Academy Products!
The FA Cup is well and truly underway, and we’re into the hat for the next round of qualifying.
