AFC Manager Jamie Godbold and his Assistant Andy Reynolds went away from their old stomping ground happy men after their current team comprehensively defeated their old club.
There were three players missing with Baker, Henshaw and Martin all unavailable but the younger players that came in did a great job. Drama also greeted the AFC Manager as before the game Liam Wales and Ross Bailey were involved in a road traffic collision on the way to Crown Meadow. Fortunately neither were injured just shaken up and they made the venue eventually.
‘The Trawlerboys’ now plying their trade in the newly named National League North, had three ex-AFC players in their full strength line-up, goalkeeper Marcus Garnham, central defender Scott Mitchell and forward Jake Reed.
AFC went into an early lead with a fine finish the ball going in just inside the far post from a Luke Callander free-kick, and then added a second when Wayne Blackman crossed and Jordan Blackwell volleyed home from a narrow angle from just inside the box.
The visitors then put a third goal away when the livewire Luke Callander (pictured) curled a shot over Garnham in the Lowestoft goal.
Three became four when Callander curled another wonder shot over Garnham.
Not content with being four goals up the Ryman North side added a fifth when Ollie Berquez dinked a ball over the top and into the goal.
Half Time;- Lowestoft Town 0 AFC Sudbury 5
The second half followed in a similar vein but AFC did not find the net again, while the home side did manage to get one goal back.
AFC used three of their substitutes with Wales and Bailey along with goalkeeper Tibbles getting some match time.
The downside was an injury picked up by Callander, hopefully he will be fit for AFC’s first league game on 8th August.
