Expecting to be playing against players from the opposition's first team squad and on a 3G pitch and with three officials it turned out not to be so.
The game was against a Grays X1 with their other team at Hayes and Yeading, and on a bare grass pitch and with no linesman present was what greeted AFC, oh and broken portable goal that had to be replaced before the game could start.
You can only therefore play what is set out before you and in the end the Suffolk side cruised to a 5-0 victory.
Liam Wales and Ross Bailey started their first game for the club. An early goal, set up as Jordan Blackwell crossed and Ollie Canfer tapped in put Sudbury on the way.
Shortly afterwards from a corner Luke Callander scored from close range. It became three when Callander with his back to goal turned and smashed the ball home, this after Blackwell had set him up.
So at the break AFC were three up on a bumpy pitch having played some good football.
A very quick change round saw a couple of changes as Bailey and Wales were replaced by Jack Newman and Craig Parker, while Sam Clarke took over from Kyran Clements.
Luke Callander completed his hat trick as he slipped the ball under the oppositions keeper. It was his second hat trick in three days. He went off and Clements re-appeared with James Baker going into an attacking role.
A fifth goal game near to the end of the game with Clarke firing home.
AFC;- Luis Tibbles, Ben Robinson, Kyran Clements (Sam Clarke 46), Ollie Berquez, Ryan Henshaw, James Baker, Jordan Blackwell, Ollie Canfer, Luke Callander (Clements 80), Liam Wales (Jack Newman 46), Ross Bailey (Craig Parker 46).
