Football league Division One side Colchester United brought their entire first team squad to The Wardale William Stadium and put out two strong sides, one in each half.
AFC for their part used the fixture to give another couple of new players a run out, the experienced Lee Flynn who was with Grays Athletic last season and Harry Barker fresh from the Norwich City Academy both saw action.
The Essex side took the lead on thirty-three minutes when Payton Swatman handled in the penalty area and Freddie Sears scored from the spot, five minutes later Drey Wright got the second with a shot from the left hand side soaring over Alex Archer.
Just past the hour mark AFC pulled a goal back when a Michael Shinn corner went in the net off Olly Hughes. The U's replied through Sammie Szmodics and increased their lead when Dan Holman got a fourth.
AFC were in no way disgraced and again David Batch used the fixture to get the best out of his squad.
