AFC took on Football League side Cambridge United who sent a youthful side to the Wardale Williams Stadium and ran out winners in a game that was of benefit to both sides.
Cambridge took an eleventh minute lead through Mitch Austin who ran through from halfway and cut across the penalty area before firing home.
AFC nearly replied when Kris Newby fired wide a minute later. The visitors increased their lead on eighteen minutes when following a left sided free kick the ball was curled home.
Sudbury full back Lee Flynn was on hand to clear off the goal line with ten minutes of the half left before a few minutes later Ryan Maxwell had a shot saved.
The second half saw AFC start brightly with a Jake Reed shot saved before on forty-nine minutes Kris Newby cut inside the Cambridge box and shot home. ’ The Us’ restored their two goal lead when Austin was allowed through the middle of the AFC defence before firing home giving Alex Archer no chance.
AFC made a number of changes in the remaining minutes before the final whistle went during which Archer had to be alive to make three good saves.
