Tom Austin is the New Men's First Team Head Coach

AFC Sudbury are delighted to announce the permanent appointment of Tom Austin as Head Coach of the Men's First Team

Coming to us from Brantham Athletic after guiding them to the title in the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division last year, Tom was assistant manager under Danny Laws and took on the interim head coach role when Danny stepped down earlier this season.

Tommy will be working as Head Coach with a support team that he will shape in the coming weeks to provide the structure that the team requires.

CEO Alicja Holland commented on the appointment process:

"...that we interviewed a number of very credible candidates to ensure that we picked the right person for driving the Men's First Team forward at this point in time. The club would like to thank all candidates for their time and efforts , presenting us with high quality strategies and approaches. Tom's passion and experience so far at AFC Sudbury alongside beginning to build a strong culture, provide continuity within the team. I look forward to watching Tommy develop as a coach, alongside the Men’s First Team General Manager David Hennessey, within the supportive structure we have implemented across the club.

We ask all fans, players, volunteers and wider community of AFC Sudbury and the town, to welcome Tommy permanently and support him as we begin to rebuild and bring sustainability to the club."

Chairman Andy Harvison said:

“Despite his young age, Tommy has already shown exceptional qualities - hardworking, personable and someone who truly wears his heart on his sleeve. This appointment brings stability at a crucial moment and I have every confidence that his drive, character and commitment will help steer us forward.”

Tom said:

"Firstly I would like to thank the board for putting their trust in me to lead the team at this great football club.

I'm really excited for the challenge ahead. We know we have a mountain to climb as a squad but I have real confidence in the group to pull us through. Please get behind us as you always do and thanks again to the fans for their ongoing support."
