The AFC Week ahead

The calm after the storm... in theory.

A rollercoaster week down at AFC. We've traveled from Bristol to Worthing, suffered the agony of narrow defeat and the ecstasy of Musa's dancing on the coach home after humbling Worthing. The first team are rejuvenated following the coaching clean sweep ( it seemed harsh but the proof in the pudding has been there for all to see since that tough decision was made ) and the U18's pushed Bristol Rovers all the way and on another day they could have buried their League One opponents before half time..such is football.
So what does the week ahead hold...

Tuesday 12th
The first team.. or a version of it, take on our friends from up the A134 Bury in the Velocity Trophy. It'll no doubt be a sizzler. It's a competition we cannot progress further in but regardless it's going to be a flippin good game. MEL Group Stadium - 8pm Kick Off

Wednesday 13th
The girls take on Gillingham at home in the Cup. 2pm Kick Off at the MEL Group Stadium

Saturday 16th
The first team take on Witham Town in the Isthmian League North Division at home. Kick Off is 3pm

and
The Ressies travel to March Town for a 3pm Kick Off in the Thurlow Nunn First Division North

also
Sudbury Sports travel to Stanway Pegasus in the Cup with a 1:30 Kick Off

and of course not forgetting
Ben Davies, AFC Director and all round great guy's stag afternoon / evening.. which is taking place at the Witham Game and after around Sudbury. Kick Off for that one will be mid day at AFC with the 2nd half kicking off at the Brewers Tap at about 6:30pm. A lot of GoPro footage may be required

Sunday 17th
The ever improving AFC Sudbury Women are taking on Newmarket Town at home with a 2pm Kick Off

As per usual i've no doubt missed off a bunch of events that have passed me by so this could get updated.

In other matters... Episode 4 of the AFC Sudbury Academy documentary is nearing completion. If you haven't watched it yet then what the hell are you doing on here... go watch it. Look on YouTube for the Sudbury TV Channel or just search for AFC Sudbury. If you have watched it already, i'd recommend going back and watching all 3 Episodes again just to make sure you haven't missed anything.

If you ever wondered what goes into the making of one of the documentaries then your wait is over...

Equipment
3 x GoPro's ( Hero 7 White, Hero 7 Silver, Hero 2018 )
1 x Phone Camera ( Google Pixel 3 )
1 x Canon 7D Mk 2 Camera
Access to Veo game analysis footage

The Process
(1) Make the 4 intro screen messages and the 4 end screen messages.
(2) Make screens for the starting 11 players and a header to be used throughout the episode.
(3) Slot in the Phone Camera footage in the right order. This will be the dressing room sequences etc
(4) Slice up the GoPro footage into usable small chunks
(5) Slot the sliced up GoPro in the right order into the film sequence we have started to create
(6) Review this rough version and start breaking up the footage so that no one section lasts too long. Break long sections up with place holder interview sections. Get rid of superfluous talking and the less interesting bits ( tricky )
(7) Pick a coaching staff member to be interviewed and a player to be interviewed and work out an interview subject list. For the forthcoming Episode there are 18 interview slots to be filled.
(8) A visit to the Academy in order to obtain this footage..filmed on my Phone.
(9) Cut up and slot these clips into the Episode, removing the placeholders that i had inserted.
(10) Re review in full and wonder how I am going to cut down the running time to as close to 30 mins as i can.
(11) Add titles and on screen text to explain questions and add some detail
(12) Run through again and note down the time each expletive takes place ( there were 52 in the last Episode )
(13) Remove all the expletives by cutting the sound at that point and adding a sound effect
(14) Add other sound effects and music where required to add polish
(15) Re Review with an audience ( My son )
(16) Submit to club for review.

If you are still awake after all that....

It's not only the Academy documentary on YouTube but action footage of AFC games as well. U18's, Sudbury Sports, AFC Women and the First Team are all represented and given the Sudbury TV treatment.

My relationship with Heidi is progressing nicely. Actually i am doing her a disservice by simply calling her Heidi as she is in fact Lady Heidi owing to the fact that she owns land in Scotland.. it may only be a square foot but it qualifies her as Lady and that's good enough for me.
