The Board of Directors confirmed yesterday that Marc Abbot has left the club via mutual consent.
I enjoyed working with Marc / Dave / Jordan & Jamie within my wider role at the football club & wish them all the very best as well as being sorry it didn’t quite work out in the end.
I have been asked to take charge of the team for the remaining 9 games of the season with the remit to try & stay in the division.
This is my tenth season at the club in a number of roles including a couple of spells as interim manager & therefore it was a simple decision to make. I will always help the club in whatever capacity is needed
Moving forward, we have a capable group of players who I’m sure have the ability and desire to win football matches and collect the necessary points to secure safety for this club to remain where I think it belongs at step 3 of the NLS.
I will be joined in the dugout by Gavin Peters who is familiar face & someone well known to the club. Gav has a passion to help the football club along the exact lines as me and is someone who I have known & trusted for a long time. He didn’t hesitate to step up.
Dave Hennessy will continue his work as general manager of the men’s first team with some extra responsibilities moving forward.
Finally I have asked long term friend and ex AFC Sudbury Goalkeeper Coach Kevin Holland to join us for the run in.
I’m looking forward to seeing as many supporters at next home game ‘non league day’ vs Redditch on the 22nd in the meantime if you are at Telford tomorrow or around the club next week I’ll see you then!
