Former Chelsea U23s midfielder, Marcel Lewis, has signed a contract that will see him stay at AFC Sudbury to at least the end of the 2025/6 season, and hopefully beyond.
Marcel joined the club towards the end of last season and was a very important part of Danny Laws' squad that secured our place at step 3 for the 3rd consecutive season.
General Manager, Dave Hennessey had this to say on formally retaining Marcel:
“Marcel has been a great addition to the club and has quickly established himself as a fan favourite on the pitch and a real character off it.
We’d seen a bit of interest in Marcel from other clubs at step 3 so moved quickly to secure an important player for the rest of this season and potentially beyond.
With this sorted, Marcel can focus 100% on delivering positive results for the Yellows without the off field distractions.”
CEO, Alicja Holland had this to add “Danny's management team and the Board have invested in a player whose talent and dedication have proven to align with our club since he joined. Marcel epitomises the energy and commitment that the club strives for. All supporters of the club will recognise this and we all look forward to watching Marcel’s progress over the next few seasons."
You can see Marcel and the rest of the first team in action this Saturday at the Elite Travel Stadium as we host Stratford Town in the Southern Premier Central League, 3pm kickoff.
