On Saturday when the Men's 1st team face St Ives Town, Diabetes UK will have their team at the MEL Group also.

Diabetes UK have kindly been invited by AFC Sudbury to exhibit a stand at the club on Saturday 30th March, for the home game against St Ives Town. The club are very keen to support the local community by raising awareness of Diabetes.

For nearly 5 million people with diabetes in the UK, there’s no day off.

Did you know that 1 person is diagnosed with diabetes every TWO minutes.

This means that during the 90-minute match on Saturday, 45 people will have been diagnosed with diabetes in the UK.

Sudbury is part of the Suffolk and North Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB). The population size for this ICB is 1.2 million, of which there are currently 63,855 people living with diabetes (which is 6.3%) 58,535 with Type 2 and 5,320 with Type 1. That is just over the capacity of Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

Teresa, Steve and Lucas, will be there from 1.30pm until approximately 5pm. We are there to offer support and answer any questions you may have about diabetes. To help educate those who have diabetes how to manage their condition, which will help reduce the risk of developing complications.

Steve and Lucas will be available, should you wish to ‘Know your Risk’, which is all about finding out your risk of type 2 diabetes. Just to make you aware, we do not take any personal information, it is completely anonymous. It only takes a few minutes. It could be the most important thing you do on that day...
Joanne is one of the 2.6 million people who have taken action and completed our Know Your Risk tool to find their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Joanne said: “I’m really glad that I used Know Your Risk. It kickstarted me to make changes in my life that I already knew I needed to make for a variety of reasons but finding out my risk of type 2 diabetes was the real catalyst for me.”

Teresa will also be there to support Steve and Lucas with raising awareness, but she will also be available to give help and support to anyone wishing to know more about fundraising for Diabetes UK. Whether that be an individual, group, corporate or school, she will be able to advise you.

Diabetes UK do not receive any Government funding. We rely solely on the money raised by our wonderful supporters and Corporate Partners.

With more people than ever living with diabetes and millions more at risk of developing type 2, our work has never been more needed. We make sure they get the care and support needed to live well with diabetes and avoid devastating complications.

At Diabetes UK, we fight day in, day out for better care, treatment and support. We won’t stop until diabetes can do no harm.
