AFC U12 Blues vs Yellows

It was always going to be an interesting first game of the season for the U12 yellows away to our newly formed U12 blues. Yellows, although playing in blue away colours made a great start to the game with lots of good passing football and the blues understandably seemed to struggle to get to grips in the first 10 mins.
The first goal came from Emanuel after a good cross into the box from Sam on the right wing, Emanuel getting control of the ball after a deflection or 2 in the box and firing home. Yellows seemed to be creating all of the chances with Jayden going close twice and shots also from Sam, Emanuel, Oscar.
Blues then started to find a bit of rhythm with a few good attacks down the right wing and some good defending from Brooke, Thomas and Logan and saves from Harley in the Yellows goal keeping the score at 1-0. Sam was working tirelessly up and down the right wing with another close effort blocked. Jayden finally got his reward for his hard work with one of his off the underside of the bar and in from the edge of the box goals. 2-0

The Blues did not let this get them down, in fact the last 10 minutes of the first half the blues were building their confidence and started playing their own attacking football and the good fast paced start by the yellows looked like it may have taken its toll. The blues came back with a well taken goal and kept attacking the yellows defence for the last 5 mins of the half as the yellows now looked a little deflated. 2-1.

The second half both teams started well with good passing and attacking football and stout defending from both sets of defenders and some very well timed tackles from the blues to stop the yellows attack. A corner fired across from Oscar was handled on the line by the defender - penalty. Oscar steeped up and smashed the ball goal ward only for the brave blues keeper to stand strong and push the ball over the bar keeping the score at 2-1. This was not to last, as another corner from the other side saw the ball come off of a blues defender for our 3rd of the game. 3-1. Yellows had more of the possession now but the blues were still very dangerous with their fast paced attacks.

The last 10 mins it seemed Dylan was chasing a lost cause at the bye line, but his persistence payed off as it usually does, panicking the defender who only cleared to Oscar who calmly controlled the pass chose his spot and fired home. 4-1. The last 10 minutes saw chances from both sides but the blues got a well deserved second goal with a break down the left side and a good finish from the winger. 4-2.

A good first game of the season on a very hot morning
