AFC Sudbury U11 Yellows Vs Walsham Le Willows

Kevin Pettet27 Mar 2022 - 11:18

Mothering Sunday

Today we started very brightly and put the visiting team on the back foot before they had chance to get started.

Solid defending by our boys and seem quick counter attacks with some great footwork and play by Dylan on the right hand side.

We almost took an early lead when Dylan played a nice ball done the right to Max who whipped in a nice cross to Jack, but the pace on the ball made it hard for Jack to get his first time shot on target.

Shortly after Jack was released down the left and cut inside on to his right foot and hit a nice shot which just went wide of the post.

Finally the goal came. Again some nice play down the left, saw Jack play Max in who slipped Dylan in who controlled and hit a lovely shot which had too much power for the keeper to hold onto and Max followed in to take the lead.

Walsham started to get a grip on the game and had a five minute goal flurry to take control of the game.

The second half started much the same as the first , but unfortunately a goal was not forthcoming, and Walsham managed to extend their lead even further.

Finally, the boys got the reward their performance deserved and got another goal. Oscar taking a long free kick into the box, saw 3 or 4 players race onto the ball with Max getting there to get his 2nd of the game.

Today’s Player Of The Day was a tough call between Dylan and Kray. Dylan having a brilliant game today, showing nice skill and composure on the ball and running at players was brilliant, but today it was awarded to Kray.

Kray had his best game of the season and came off exhausted. He was taking a touch, even when under pressure, and looking to pass to his team mates. He was getting forwards when asked and having to make the long run back to try and help his team mates in defence. Well done Kray.
