AFC Sudbury promotes Barclays Girls’ Football School Partnerships

Steve Screech15 Mar 2022 - 09:13

At all levels we are progressing

Last week saw our Girls Academy continue their pursuit of honours across five fronts, this time with a comprehensive 5-1 win at Arsenal WFC Oaklands Academy in the National Football Youth League

Meanwhile, back home at the Academy we played host to 40 girls from our neighboring primary schools for a morning of football related fun and games

Pupils from Pot Kiln, St Gregory’s & Glemsford, met our club mascot ‘Yellow’ and were coached by a number of Girls Academy students

Lisa Dalton, South West Suffolk Barclays Girls Football Schools Partnership Strategic Lead, worked with the club to organise the event and commented ‘A huge thank you to you and your Academy girls who gave the girls an amazing experience this morning. So many smiles, happy faces and enthusiasm’

Laura Jestico, Headteacher of Pot Kiln Primary School attended on the day and was enthused by the positivity of the morning, ‘thank you so much for yesterday - our girls loved it!’

AFC Sudbury Academy, Head of Girls Football Darren Scoulding felt the morning was a great opportunity to further embed the club into the community and felt this work with schools was just the start of a wider programme of engagement ‘I’m delighted that we shared such a great morning with so many local girls in the area. The physical activities were enthusiastically participated in by all and it was really good to see the girls mixing and making new friends with girls from other schools that they met and played with and against on the day. We hope that they have had a memorable morning and they will return in the near future with their families and that we have inspired the next generation of supporters, players, coaches or helpers!’
