#WinningTogether

AFC Sudbury is the football club at the heart of the local community. And at the same time the local community is at the heart of everything that we try to do.
With that in mind we are delighted to announce a new partnership with The Bridge Project, the Sudbury based charity that assists disadvantaged adults in the community. The Bridge Project will be making use of the extensive facilities at the MEL Group Stadium to manage hospitality and catering at football related activities, while developing areas such as the unused ‘triangle’ into classrooms and an allotment.

This new partnership will enable us to focus our efforts on what we are really good at. The provision of sporting facilities for the local community and continued success of our teams and of course our nationally renowned Academy.

The Clubhouse at AFC Sudbury will provide the right facilities for The Bridge Project’s staff, volunteers and students to not only run but expand their existing range of services. These include their popular lunch delivery services, local events, the dementia café, and pottery painting. We at AFC Sudbury are thrilled to partner ourselves with such a wonderful community based charity and can see many opportunities to work together to improve our respective offerings.

Andrew Long, Chairman at AFC Sudbury, said: “For AFC Sudbury, this partnership is a natural extension of our position at the centre of the local community, supporting the health and wellbeing of everyone, irrespective of ability, gender or race. Our new partners share this basic ethos and we are delighted that we are able to work more closely together to provide that much needed community support, especially during these most difficult of times.”

Paul Mackman, Chair of Trustees for The Bridge Project, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for two of Sudbury’s premier organisations to work together to enhance their community offering. At The Bridge Project, we are absolutely determined to get our students back at the centre of what we do - and front of house in our cafés - as the Covid restrictions start to ease.”

Further details on AFC Sudbury’s partnership with The Bridge Project will be coming soon.

Kind regards

Andrew Long
