Following the resignation of Head Coach, Tommy Austin and the departure of his assistant, Jamie Thomson, Sudbury have moved quickly to place GM Dave Hennessey (who joined as Men's First Team General Manager in May 2024) in the dugout to see the first team through to the end of the season. This appointment is for he final 7 games of this season. The Board will be starting its process for a Men's First Team permanent manager for the 2026/7 season in the next couple of weeks.
Hennessey will be supported in the dugout by the existing coaching team, made up of Michael Pulford, Stefan Robson & Paige Fleming, supported when needed by Rob Fayers.
When asked about his appointment, Hennessey had this to say:
_“I’m honoured to be in this position and I thank the board for having the faith in this group to see the boys over the line.
It’s been a torrid season and we know that we’ve fallen short of our ambitions so far, but everyone in that dressing room will work hard to finish the season as strongly as we can”._
Quote from AFC Sudbury's CEO:
_"Hennessey and the backroom team will take charge for the first time on Saturday as AFC Sudbury make the trip to fellow relegation strugglers, Barwell before returning home to face Alvechurch on the 28th.
Get yourself along and support Dave and the team if you can!"_
