AFC Name Seven New Players

New Players For AFC

AFC Sudbury are pleased to announce seven summer signings in readiness for next season's Ryman League North campaign.

The new crop join the ten contracted players that the club have retained from last season's improved showing, that saw an additional thirty-one points gained from the previous season, as well as the club's first Cup Final for a number of years coupled with good runs in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy.

The players signed are;---

JAKE REED - Forward

Joined Ryman Premier Lowestoft Town from Football League club Dagenham & Redbridge in October last season, then netting 20 times for 'The Trawlerboys' as they stormed up the league and secured promotion to the Conference in a play -off final victory in which he also scored in.

RYAN MAXWELL - Midfield

An experienced 31year-old campaigner who finished last season at Heybridge Swifts, driving them into the play-offs. His former clubs include Crystal Palace, Reading, Hamilton Academical's and Raith Rovers after starting at Chelsea as a youth player. Ryan is a former Northern Ireland U21 international and in his non-league days has appeared for Grays Athletic, Braintree Town and Borehamwood.

KRIS NEWBY - Wide man

One of the most effective attacking forces in the Ryman North last season, scoring 24 times for Witham Town as they won promotion to the Ryman Premier. His previous clubs include Grays Athletic and East Thurrock United.

CRAIG POPE - Defender

An experienced player who was captain at Grays Athletic last season. Former clubs include Barnet in the Conference, Cambridge City and Histon, for whom he appeared for in two play-off campaigns to the Football League.

LAWRENCE YIGA - Defender

A 6'4 centre half whose quality is a stand out factor. He finished last season at Ware, joining after a managerial change last season and was instrumental on their fine run of form which led them to Ryman League North safety. Previous clubs include Billericay Town, Margate and Thurrock.

AYRTON COLEY - Forward

A strong and quick forward who scored 15 goals at Waltham Abbey last season. Ayrton joined Abbey from Bishops Stortford, where he played for two seasons.

JACK GUYTON - Midfield

A young 17 year-old midfielder signed from Wroxham having made a number of appearances for The Yachtsmen last season aged just 16, he is considered as one of the most promising young players in the Ryman League.

AFC Sudbury Manager David Batch will also have trialists who have recently departed Football League clubs joining in the club's pre-season, and is looking forward to integrating the experience of the players signed into the core of his young squad.
