AFC Sudbury Academy Roles

AFC Sudbury Academy is keen to develop staff and players. This is shown with Luis Hrebeniak progressing from Academy goalkeeper coach to Head of Goalkeeping at Stevenage Academy and Jamie Souza progressing to leading Stetson University in the NCAA Division one following roles with the academy of Boys matchday assistant and Head of girls Academy.

AFC Sudbury Academy Roles 

Job Title - Matchday Staff 

This role provides the opportunity for coaches to further develop their game craft by having access to a greater volume of games that they can impact. With both boys academy matchday assistants progressing into step 3 & step 5 football respectively for the 2025/26 season this shows the clear progression routes available. Support will be provided for staff to achieve their UEFA B/C coaching qualification as we have a unique benefit of three FA tutors working within our Academy. 

Aim - To assist the lead coach on a matchday and provide challenge & support to our players

Boys Vacancies - AFC Sudbury Reserves (Thurlow Nunn D1) & AFC Sudbury U23 (Thurlow Nunn U23) 

Girls Vacancies - AFC Sudbury Reserves/Development (league TBC) 

Job Title - Scouting/Recruitment 

This provides an opportunity for those with a keen interest in scouting & recruitment to acquire scouting hours and play a key part in finding the future stars of our football club. In recent years our scouts have progressed into professional football clubs following their progression within these roles. Support will be provided to ensure scouting staff have the opportunity to obtain both the FA Level One & the FA Level Two in Talent Identification.  

Aim - To assist the Academy head of recruitment in identifying boys & girls throughout various age groups 

Boys - 2 x U9 - U12 vacancy & 2 x U13 - U16 vacancy 

Girls - 1 x U10 - U12 vacancy & 1 x u13 to U16 vacancy

Job Title - YDP Football Operations Lead (U13 to U16s) 

This role encompasses our boys & girls youth development phase (YDP) teams and plays a key role on the weekly operations of our development programme. 

Aim - To manage the weekly tasks within the YDP department with regards to fixture planning and communication with relevant leagues. This will also include onboarding players throughout the season. 

Boys - 1 x vacancy

Girls - 1 x vacancy  

Job Title - Assistant Academy Goalkeeper Coach (U9 to U18) 

This role is an ideal opportunity for coaches with a keen interest in goalkeeping to assist our Academy head of goalkeeping in developing goalkeepers throughout our various age groups. This role will be allow hands on coaching experience in both training & matchday's. 

Aim - To identify & develop goalkeepers throughout the various age groups 

Boys - 1 x vacancy 9s to 18s 

Girls - 1 x vacancy  11s to 18s 

Support will be provided for staff to achieve their UEFA B/C coaching qualification in both goalkeeping & outfield coaching 

Job Title - Home Matchday Physio 

This role is ideal for interns to gain valuable matchday hours and experience. You will always be based at AFC Sudbury for home academy matchday's on either a Saturday or Sunday which allows you the opportunity to work across multiply teams. This role isn't restricted into sections with academy games on both Saturday & Sundays
