Mother's Day wasn't meant to be like this
Actonians score four as we are defeated at the MEL
It was an afternoon to forget for the Yellows, as we were beaten 4-1. We lined up with Carter in goal, Harrison, Dodd, Lambe, and Provan in front of her, with Bezant, Jouvenel, and Frazzoni in the midfield, and in attack we had Jeffery and Penny either side of Allen. On the bench we had Donley, Jarvis, Goodwin and Drake.
We started well, and nearly found ourselves in front within three minutes. After some neat play, we found our way into the box, but Bez hit over the bar. However, despite dominating possession we went behind halfway through the first half after a quick counterattack. Five minutes later, they doubled their advantage once again on the break. We did manage to respond instantly though, as the ball bounced to Ava Jouvenel who fired her shot into the top corner from the edge of the box. With just over five minutes of the half to go, unfortunately, the visitors regained their two-goal lead. Skipper Ronni Harrison produced a fantastic piece of defending on the line to keep the match alive right on the stroke of half time.
Half-Time: AFC Sudbury 1-3 Actonians
In the second half, we came out with the intention of getting a quick goal, Jeffers hit her shot just wide, and we were also denied what looked to be a stonewall penalty after Alex was wiped out. I’m still not quite sure how it wasn’t given. On the counterattack once again though Actonians scored their fourth goal to seal the match. Millie Carter did make a magnificent close range save one on one with the opposition attacker to keep the score at 1-4. Worryingly, Ronni was forced off with a nasty looking injury, and we hope that she has a speedy recovery.

Well, that was unfortunate. Let’s move on. On Tuesday we play Cambridge City in a huge match at the bottom, we’re going to need everyone there, so come on down to the MEL for an 8pm kick off.
