We have lift off

The Yellows came from behind as a second half show gains us our first three points of the campaign.
It was a slow start to the opening 45, Millie making a couple of good stops to make sure we didn’t go behind early on. However, with just under 10 minutes until the break, Haywards Heath took the lead. Goulden found herself one on one with Millie, after breaking through the defence, and calmly slotted into the back of the net with a fine finish. On the stroke of half-time we were so close to being level. Jess Allen hit a fierce effort which beat the ‘keeper but was denied by the bar.

In the second half, we made a very quick start. Three minutes into the half Eva Frazzoni, back from her international duty with Bermuda, was through on goal and she perfectly placed the ball in the back of the net... but it was given offside, however four minutes later, we had the ball in the net again... and this time it would count! It wasn’t the prettiest of goals, but after a goal mouth scramble Holly was ready to poke home. We then turned to the bench, academy players Chloe Brame and Lola Harvey-Cox entering the match. Lola making her first-team debut at only 16 years old, another well-deserved milestone by one of our own. As we approached the final 20 minutes, Holly struck again. She received the ball inside the penalty area and hit a wonderful strike right into the bottom corner past the diving goalie, magnificent! With seven minutes of normal time remaining, substitute Chloe Brame headed into the back of the net following Holly’s cross, her first first-team goal! As we waited in stoppage time for the final whistle to be blown, which felt like another whole 90 minutes, we were finally able to celebrate our first win of the season and what a win it was.
Well, we didn’t make it easy, but we made it a special afternoon. This team is something special. It’s now time to build on the foundation we’ve laid and carry on.
