It’s Emirates FA Cup time once again, and after AFC 4-0 win against Ware in the Preliminary Round it’s onto the First Qualifying Round and another home game at The Wardale Williams Stadium. The visitors are Ryman Premier League side Hendon in a tie sponsored by Great Waldingfield Garages.
The two sides have met once previously, this being in an FA Trophy tie on 30th October 2010 when AFC won 5-1 in front of 289 spectators. The goal scorers were Rhys Darg with two, James Baker, Danny Emmanuel and Dave Wareham.
Hendon are currently in twelfth place in their league, and won 4-2 away at East Thurrock United on Tuesday evening. Since then they have recruited two players, a defender and a midfield man to boost their squad and they are likely to be with them today.
AFC welcome back Manager Jamie Godbold who has been recharging his batteries in sunnier climes, and while he has been away his deputy Andy Reynolds has masterminded two victories, over both Gt Wakering Rovers and Soham Town Rangers.
There are unlikely to be many changes to the AFC squad, maybe a slight shuffle around to give some game time to those who have been on the bench in recent matches. Ollie Berquez is unlikely to feature as he continues to suffer with an abdominal strain that may need further investigation.
Should the game finish as a draw after ninety minutes than the replay will be on Monday, Hendon share with Harrow Borough FC at Earlsmead, Carlyon Avenue, Harrow, Middlesex, HA2 8SS.
The winners of the tie will pick up £3000 in prize money.
