On a bright afternoon to greet the start of the new season AFC Sudbury scored four times to run out comfortable winners away to Tilbury at Chadfields.
AFC Started the match in sprightly fashion before the match settled into an even opening period. Sudbury had the ball in the net on 35 minutes but it was ruled out for a push which also saw Phil Kelly collect a yellow card.
Sudbury took the lead on 40 minutes when great play by Callum Harrison set up Billy Holland who produced a superb finish from 25 yards to send the ball into the top corner. Tilbury twice went close before on the stroke of half-time Kelly forced a great save from Clarke Bogard in the Tilbury goal.
10 minutes into the second period AFC doubled their lead as Phil Kelly broke clear of the Tilbury defence before firing over Bogard into the net. A fine solo effort by Callum Harrison beating two Tilbury defenders saw AFC add a third on the hour mark and AFC were now well on top.
Ollie Gravett replaced Jordan Blackwell on 75 minutes while Mekhi McKenzie replaced Phil Kelly 5 minutes later. With 10 minutes remaining a great strike by Darryl Coakley sealed the victory and guaranteed the three points made their way back to Suffolk.
