AFC went into this game full of confidence after a string of good results and unbeaten in their previous seven matches.
Unfortunately at the end of the ninety minutes they had nothing to show for their performance on a damp and windy evening at The Wardale Williams Stadium.
Manager David Batch decided to make one change from the win at Whitstable, bringing Terry Rymer in in place of Ayrton Coley, while James Baker returned to the bench following his one match suspension. Lawrence Yiga returned to the fold and was a substitute.
AFC started brightly with a couple of Jack Wilkinson long throws causing problems in the Cheshunt box, one with Kris Newby heading into the arms of visiting keeper Williamson.
Making his home debut and having scored in his first game in the previous game, Ollie Berquez found his name of the score sheet for the wrong reasons. A Cheshunt free kick into the AFC penalty area found the foot of Berquez and unfortunately flew into the net giving the visitors the lead. In his long career it was his first ever own goal.
Archer had to be alive, as after a Newby break the opposition careered towards the AFC goal, and the Sudbury keeper came out to smother the ball.
Things were levelled up just before the half hour mark and again it was an own goal. Another Wilkinson long throw went into the Cheshunt penalty area and there was Adam Bolle heading the ball past his own goalkeeper.
Ben Robinson combined well with young forward Scott Kemp (pictured) who found Newby but the move fizzled out. Archer then did well punching away a Cheshunt corner, the ball falling to Terry Rymer who raced away to be fouled, the free-kick coming to nothing.
Skipper Sam Clarke suddenly went down in the middle of the pitch with apparently no one seeing what happened. He had treatment and was able to continue and Bolle for the visitors was booked.
Half time; AFC Sudbury 1 Cheshunt 1
The visitors started brightly and went ahead three minutes after the restart. Bolle had a great shot saved by the legs of Archer before the ball went out to the left hand side and was crossed in and Bolle was there to head home.
Kemp who had looked lively was away down the left wing but was pulled back by Llewellyn who was yellow carded for his trouble following a skirmish. Their other full back soon followed him into the book for a foul out on the left. From the free kick somehow Rymer completely missed the ball with his head when it seemed easier to score.
On fifty-seven minutes Yiga took over from Ryan Hervel and four minutes later Kemp saw his shot saved by the legs of Williamson, a few minutes later he blocked another Kemp shot before Berquez fired wide.
Cheshunt continued to press and Fagbohun crossed and Bolle headed the ball back into the area and the ball was scrambled away.
It was again the young Kemp who caused the visiting keeper to save when through having poked ball goalward.
There was danger for AFC when following breakaway Robinson failed but Yiga was there to save the day conceding a corner.

Rymer went off and Baker came on, as Illsley for Cheshunt was booked for a foul on Clarke. Yiga got in a great tackle with Elenge with the visitor staying down, but able to continue after treatment.
Baker did well and got ball to Kemp who saw his shot saved as Ayton Coley replaced Berquez on seventy-six minutes, but a minute later the game was virtually over as AFC conceded a horrible third goal.
The ball was played through towards the AFC penalty area and Ryan Henshaw and Archer got their communications a little muddled and it left Archer to try and clear. It unfortunately spun off and went to the feet of Bolle who took it forward and shot home. It was a hat trick of sorts for the Cheshunt man.
Both Coley and Yiga fired wide before well into stoppage time the tireless Kemp struck the crossbar with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
It was not a great night for AFC as they failed to take the chances they had and added to their own downfall with an own goal and some disastrous defending.
